Modern times have made us consider travel to require thousands of miles. You’re only traveling if you’re getting on a plane, a train, a boat, or a long road trip.
Traveling simply consists of movement from one place to another, no matter how far or near. The problem with travel nowadays has everything to do with how fast we move. In a rush from here to there. To beat traffic. To grab an item from the store before it sells out. To even race on the highway to let off steam from work. Traveling today carries the tone of escaping.
When looking at traveling as an activity, we have to explore it in every aspect and correspondence, including nomads. Or activities like camping. These were the original travels of our ancestors.
This must also be connected to traveling in the mind. When you learn something new, your mind has traveled to a new location. It went through the process of learning the language, adopting the customs, and ultimately planning to stay for a while.
Sometimes learning “new concepts” seems familiar. This means you understand the language, the language is similar to another you have learned, or you may have learned it before in a previous lifetime. This can be shown when you experience déjà vu in certain environments and situations.
When we think of traveling to a new location, the next step is to rest. To make yourself at home. To make this new location a stopping point.
***Personal anecdote***
As a child, I was always known for going to sleep anywhere. If anybody is familiar with JoyFest, I was on the front row and I fell into a deep slumber with speakers blaring, crowds yelling. Sound galore. At restaurants, I could go to sleep.
This was not a condition that I struggled with like narcolepsy. I was a very active child. However, I could always find relaxation anywhere. Also, my name Noah means “rest”.
Although this trait survived into my adulthood, the mental aspect suffered. Even on the paths where I worked multiple jobs, experiencing burnout, I still could find physical rest. However, my mind was in a restless state. I could hold down a job, but there was always this nagging thought. Even though I set up camp, I always longed to be somewhere else.
Over time, I realized this was the pull of my intuition. It caused me to be in an environment for a long enough period, knowing that I had to move to another level, another location. Whatever I needed to learn and however long I needed to learn it was necessary. This is what I call mental nomadism.
Being able to make your home anywhere, set up camp, and be at rest. That's having a traveler's mindset.
I remember hearing old folk say as a child:
I'm just passing through.
This is a statement that encompasses the transmigration of the soul through lifetimes. Taking on the physical body to gather the necessary knowledge for the soul’s evolution and leaving when the mission is complete/incomplete.
The purpose of this physical realm is to keep you in unrest. Seeking external validation to cope with insecurities. Looking for substances to ease the pain. Constantly looking for something to watch to avoid listening to your internal conversation. That right there is unrest. Restlessness. No matter where you are, rest is never there. That is survival mode.
This is the purpose of keeping you distracted. Bombarded and immersed in a constant influx of information. Even if you're not doing anything with it, your mind is still processing it as information.
In a world that emphasizes staying "connected", it is of the utmost importance to disconnect as often as you can.
If the agenda is to keep you connected, that means there is an ulterior motive behind it. Or else the message to disconnect would not even exist.
Spirituality teaches you that by default, the material realm is limited. There is nothing here that can truly fulfill you. Any form of pleasure is temporary.
Being at rest in your mind means satisfaction with your journey, where you’ve come from. Combined with high vibrational and positive expectations of where your journey is leading you. Although you are looking to the next level, you are never ignoring the now. Why? The now creates the next moment.
A restful mind finds solace anywhere. It is aware of its potential. It does not scrap for resources, for it knows its ability to find them. More importantly, it trusts its intuition to lead it to what it needs. Even better, it values Divine timing. All this boils down to understanding and being sensitive to the seasons of energies in the unseen realm.
Just as easily as you made this home, you can do the same thing somewhere else. There is no rush. Might as well make yourself at home.
Good quality rest equates to a sustained belief in one’s safety, no matter what.
Simply put, having a restful mind means you know victory is assured. Resources are automatically met. Targets acquired and neutralized. Obstacles overcome. Illusions dispelled.
All veils of ignorance seek to keep you awake at night, worrying and unsure of having a solution.
And what does being unable to sleep equate to? A longer day.
You can see that sleep deprivation, good quality sleep, sleeping like a baby is the enemy. Why? You must work. You must fight for a career. You must compete for resources like what? An animal.
Again, why is it the enemy? It is in rest where you find all your answers. Your subconscious mind, uninterrupted by the monkey chatter of the conscious mind, gives you answers every night. Even when you’re not asleep, accessing alpha state in meditation or daydreaming, you can find answers inaccessible through logic.
Now, you can see even further why everything is so urgent nowadays. More and more people are adopting the mentality of “I don’t watch the news”. This comes from a constant invitation to connect to bullshit that has absolutely nothing to do with you or your purpose.
When you are in a restful state, you are connected to your purpose. Connection to your purpose, with pure heart and intentions, is your protection in any environment. Get your rest.
✨ Stay Connected ✨
